The past few months have been really fascinating to watch. My first little application Doomi has been passed around dozens of blogs, favorited, bookmarked, twittered, screencasted, and pretty much made the webernet rounds. Here’s some statistics. In the past 3 months, Doomi has been installed over 2500 times, it’s single page has been hit over 13,000 times, and the app has been blogged and reviewed on dozens of tech sites.
I’ve received a ton of feedback on the app, everything has been logged, and Doomi has officially worked it’s way back into development. Here’s what I want to see in the next versions:
- Constantly be syncing with data in the cloud, if a connection is present sync it, if it’s not, store it locally.
- Drag and Drop re-organization of to-do items.
- Simple skinning using tints with transparent png’s.
- Remember the Milk API support, and Ta-da-List.
- Minimize, and possible live in the task bar for Windows guys.
- Vertical and horizontal re-sizing.
- Custom remind times.
My first step is take a look back at the code I wrote a few months back and start to refactor how everything works together. The goal will be to really separate everything as much as possible, and just clean up the application so its easy to add features and integrate changes.
So look forward to some buzz on doominow.com, I’ll probably setup a wordpress blog in the coming weeks, and get a little more vocal about what’s going on. Thanks for everybody’s feedback, support, smart remarks, and blogging.
P.S. The last months lack of blog posts comes from being tottaly swamped graduation and the new job. The good news is, things have settled down a little bit and I can’t wait to share with you guys what I’ve been working on. Stay tuned.

Glad to see ur thinking about opening it up again! One thing that would be great to add in would be to have the window remember its location! But either way great work!
I’ve been tracking the word “doomi” on twitter for the last month and receive at least one or 2 texts a day, usually in a foreign language. Represent.
rockstar.
Dude. Using it all the time
Good times
Great job with Doomi, but please add a feature to group ToDo’s into projects! This would be a life saver for me. Otherwise it really is a great (simple) app to use.
Keep up the good work!
Hey, I just saw this and so far am really liking it a lot. Can’t wait to see the updates as they come along since I”ll definitely be using this more and more.

Remember the Milk API support would be over the top!!
Categories…. this would be golden. Or as TS said : “but please add a feature to group ToDo’s into projects!”
This would make it perfect.
Hey nice tool but the killer may be the lack of being able to reorder the tasks and have a way to set priority.
You know, you add a new task but it’s really a lot priority one so you want it on the bottom of your list but all day it’s sitting on the top…. would be sweet to be able to drag it down the list or set a priority and have it automatically sort by priority.
If that was implemented I wouldn’t hesitate to share it with everyone I work with.
nice work.
very nice work
i like it
by the way i’m come from china
So simple and yet so good. To be honest, its the first time I have actually *used* a to-do app, after downloading and installing 231643 of them.
So, thanks!
How does such a simple program get a lot of hype? Simple…by being extremely functional, clean, and, well…so beautifully simple.
As a long time coder and up-and-coming web coder…I’ll say this…Rule #1 in development….just because you ‘can’ doesn’t mean you ’should’ lol. Keep it simple!
Great app John, and I look forward to using it for a long time. Also, congrats for making the Software CD of the month in Octobers issue of Maximum PC (which is how I first heard of Doomi
)!
Great app. Just needs the ability to remove an entry, without clearning everything. Then it would be perfect.
It would be cool if when I opened Doomi (from Quicksliver) I could immediately start typing a ToDo. I.e. the focus was in the ‘Enter a to-do….’ field.
I love Doomi and use it at work ALL the time. I know you’ve discussed vertical sizing above, but I just want to stress how important that is to me as a user. I have over 60 completed items, but if I attempt to show completed items, I never see the bottom of the window again. While this isn’t a huge deal, it gets in the way and I have to close and re-open the program again to get it to behave itself. Thanks for making this tremendous app available to the public for FREE, AND I look forward to it’s next release. Thanks again!
Doomi is pretty cool, I used to have a 3M post it app, but yours looks better ! good job
lovin it… but setting a priority would be awesome
Hi,
First thanks for all, i use doomi all the days, all the time.
I would like to report a little bug :
Doomi doesn’t remember items positions after drag and drop (but only when you close the appli and reopen it) so i have to replace them when i open the appli.
A little request : if the list is too long the bottom disappear (my display is 24”!!), it wood be great to have a scrollbar.
An other request : to have the application version in a “about” menu
Thanks
Yannick
keyboard shortcuts!!
especially for creating a new task — I’d like to be able to hit some hotkey to put focus in the new task widget so I can quickly enter a rough task then hit enter and go back to what I was doing.
I’d been looking for a simple to-do list that would sit on my desktop and remind me of my tasks. Along came Doomi and i am stoked. Thanks for the work. Keep it up!
Hello John,
I find Doomi to be an important tool. My problem with it is, that I cannot scroll it down to see the end of my (very long…) to do list.
Is there any way to solve this problem?
Thank you,
Adam.
Hi John,
I love this idea! Saw it listed in INC magazine in the Sept issue. Any way to prioritize the list or categorize to do’s? Then I’d be in heaven!
Thanks!
Erica

Hello John,
well done! Thanks for cleaning up my desk
I really like your Application, it was exactly what I missed all the time.
friendly regards,
Jeuergen
This is awesome, just what is it for….. but it WOULD be nice to have some category, to manage multiple todo lists, very goooood app, thx
I have been using Doomi since 3 months…it’s simply amazing, specially for people like that often forget a lot of things to do…Thanks for your hard work man!
P.S.
A good feature that maybe would be great is the translation in other languages…
One thing that would make this awesome app, even better is if you had the option to see how old yours to-do’s are. Like: “Bla bla bla” 10 days ago “Lorum Ipsum” 1 day ago
why the programme can’t let the icon not show in the taskbar?
