FAVORITE APPLICATION
Quicksilver. Without a doubt, this is the one program on my Mac I couldn’t live without. I’ve got to a point where I rely on this little app. So much so that I only have 2 shortcuts in my dock, system prefs and finder, everything else is launched with Quicksilver. If you havn’t heard of it or havn’t had time for it, do download, and do try it. It will save you tons of time, clutter, and headaches.

FAVORITE OS FOR WORK
Windows XP… OS X, I’m over your beauty. To be honest, I just want to get things done fast, and now. XP is just extra snappy, whether I’m opening Firefox, Photoshop, MSN, or even just rendering web pages.

Here’s the big deal breaker, I live in the Adobe Creative Suite, and Adobe still hasn’t got their Mac apps running solid, even after Intel based CS3. Seriously, what’s the deal?

XP you get points for being a speedy, no bullshit OS. Oh, and taking a break to play Crysis, Call of Duty 4, or Counter-strike is a nice bonus.

FAVORITE WEBZINE
Smashing Magazine, this is an absolute must read for any web developer. Here’s some of my faves.

80 Professional Typefaces
70 Expert CSS Ideas
35 x 5 Questions

Coming in a close second place, TechCrunch.

FAVORITE DEVELOPER
Dean Edwards, this guy has taken Javascript where no one else has ever gone. He’s single handedly patched IE, and IE6, using Javascript. Basically making them standard compliant browsers, some features in case you forgot are pseudo classes, PNG transparency, and many others. He’s also the man behind the javascript packer that you see the dev’s behind JQuery, MooTools, and other libraries using. All his stuff is open source and available for download, definitely check it out.

FAVORITE BOOK

DOM Scripting by Jeremy Keith. This was the first Programming book that really broke down typical tasks into plain english. The book is packed full of hands-on learning, examples, all mixed with a good amount of theory. Jeremy’s teaching style is to first talk to you like a programmer and then use analogies to break it down. He’s also a huge evangelist of standards-based web development. If your having trouble picking up Javascript, or would like to really understand how it works, I would definitely recommend picking up this book.

FAVORITE NEWS SOURCE
Techmeme, I’ve blogged about this site before, its officially my replacement for Digg and central source for all tech news.

FAVORITE ELECTRONIC
The iPhone. For mostly this reason, it is simply the best mobile browsing experience there is, and it’s only going to keep getting better. The camera is fantastic, check out one of my older posts for some iPhone photography. I don’t think I need to say too much here, other than add, “get an iPhone” to your new years resolution.

FAVORITE BLOG DESIGN
Although hardly an easy choice, I’d have to go with, The Big Noob. This site’s been featured in dozens of CSS gallery’s and showcases. The typography is beautiful, even the web fonts are well chosen. The rich blues, sharp photography, and clean cut grid puts this one to the top for me.
